A Florida woman removed an alligator from her yoga pants when the police stopped the car in which she was traveling.
Ariel Machan-Le Quire, 25, was with Michael Clemons, 22 when he was arrested after passing a stop sign in Charlotte County, Florida.
The two men told the police that they were picking up frogs and snakes in a high passage, and Mr. Clemons allowed the police to search his truck.
Police found 41 turtles of three bands in the car, all apparently in the backpack of Mrs. Machan-Le Quire.
When asked if he had anything else, he pulled a 1m (0.3m) alligator from his tights.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission has resumed the investigation.
